Something New

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Knowledge Management - but occasionally it is possible to find some stuff that is - to say the least - fascinating!

I recently came across a contribution to a discussion board by Bruce LaDuke from Instant Innovation, LLC who also has links to some interesting web sites that readers may wish to look at for example: HyperAdvance

In his post to the KnowledgeBoard discussion forum, Mr LaDuke stated the following (Note:only a small excerpt is noted here):
"We are in a thirty year transition as the world shifts from an industrial economy to a creative knowledge economy to a web/network economy to a molecular economy.

The products of the molecular economy will be mind-boggling. Here are some examples of products coming soon from a presentation I'm working on:

- Molecular self-replicating machines
- Miniature, functional, fast spacecraft
- Nanobiological material
- Bioelectronics/DNA computers
- High intelligence, neural net processing engines
- Nanites working within the body
- Super strong, light nanotube cable into space
- Ultra light, ultra strong automobiles
- Sensing machines
- Neural enhancement devices
- Synthetic material stronger than diamonds
- Human 'wings'
- Xenomorphs - assemble and disassemble in reaction to the environment at molecular level
- Countertop nanofactory (e.g. builds laptop)
- Unlimited battery power/viable solar power

And here are some examples of things that are already here:

- Geko fibers (use to scale walls)
- Bendable computer display/computer paper
- Synthetic crystal paint
- Shape-changing metals (e.g., e-muscles)
- Nanotube transparent '‘paper'’ stronger than steel
- Flying car
- Robot skin
- Carbon nanotubes treat broken bones
- 'Smart' nanoprobes light up disease
- Fuel cell motorbike (sold in U.S.)
- Nanotechnology energy source
- A '‘smart' bio-nanotube
- Bendable concrete
- One atom thick materials
- Carbon nanotubes that function like an artificial gecko foot
- Anti-cancer smart bomb
- Power-conducting fabric thread/low profile solar panels

These are just some examples to show how this molecular economy will produce incredible advances. It is estimated that the industry could create trillions of dollars of economic growth.

Molecular manufacturing is entirely different from current manufacturing. There is no need for quality control because the process is so exacting. It is also easy to prototype and full-scale manufacturing can be done on a table top.

The most incredible aspect of the molecular economy is that it doesn't stop there. The NBIC Convergence is the developing merger of nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, and cognitive science. This represents a converging of disciplines and skills as well as an integration of products like bio-computing."
Now to most people I know, what is in this space feels and sounds like science fiction come to life. However it would be worth while watching this space just in case it's a potential source of investment NOW and into the future.

In my case I am certainly going to make some inquiries about the so called "Anti-cancer smart bomb", it's exactly what I need right now.
